Near Superhydrophobic Carbon Nanotube Coatings Obtained via Electrophoretic Deposition on Low‐Alloy Steels

چکیده

Sucker rods are a key element in certain oil-extraction processes as they link the motor group on surface with pumps located downhole. During transport from production site toward extraction well, these components prone to corrosion. A hydrophobic carbon nanotube (CNT) coating, deposited via electrophoretic deposition (EPD), is proposed protective layer, shielding harsh environmental conditions. Three different coating systems considered and thoroughly characterized (depending additive that used deposit CNT), namely, magnesium nitrate hexahydrate (Mg–Nit), triethylamine (TEA), duplex (DD). The latter presents an approach which combines advantages of each additive, mechanical stability Mg–Nit strong hydrophobicity TEA (near superhydrophobic). former coatings further processed overcome their individual shortcomings, resulting increase coating's for well transforming hydrophilic into surface.
